We demonstrate God's love to others by meeting their needs and healing their hurts in the name of Jesus. Believers are called to minister to all kinds of needs: spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical.

Stewardship

Through an annual financial giving campaign and time-and-talent forms, we are helping Christians realize the importance of giving to the health of their faith. We seek to give Christians opportunities for giving of the things God has given us: ourselves, our time and our possessions. We seek to equip Christians to use the talents God has given them for the good of God's world.

Martha & Mary

First Lutheran Church is one of nine Lutheran congregations in Kitsap County that make up the Martha & Mary Lutheran Services Corporation. Martha & Mary Health Services provides post-surgical rehab, cardiac rehab, and therapy services in Kitsap County. The Wheels and Beds campaign is raising money for new wheelchairs and mechanical resident beds. Martha & Mary Children's Services provides a preschool, day care, before- and after-school activities, a Head Start program, and there will soon be an inter-generational program in their Silverdale Center as well as in Poulsbo. Martha & Mary Ebenezer Services has 24 studio, one-bedroom and expander units, with rentals running from $475 to $775 per month.

Social Concerns

Food Cupboard - Our onsite food cupboard supplies "emergency" food to almost 100 families each year.

St. Vincent de Paul's - We contribute to St. Vincent's to assist North Kitsap families in need of rent or utilities money. Through St. Vincent's, the churches in the community can provide effective and efficient service to those truly in need.

Holiday food boxes - Each year we assemble food boxes for families in preparation for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Central Market provides a low bulk rate for the food, Poulsbo North Kitsap Rotary donates money, and FISHLINE provides the names of families in need. The food boxes may also contain laundry and personal hygiene items as well as gloves, mittens and hats for children.
